Students'
memory skills were put to the test during the High School Oratorical Contest
sponsored by American Legion Tipton County Post 67.
The
purpose of the contest is to develop students' knowledge and appreciation of the
Constitution of the United States .
This
year six students from Munford, Brighton and Covington high schools participated
in the contest, which was at Brighton High School .
The
students presented speeches they had written about the Constitution. The
speeches were presented in front of judges without the aid of a podium, sound
system or notes. This
year's winner was Leah Ortiz of Brighton High School ; Chris Franklin of
Covington High School came in second and Crystel McCauley of Brighton High
School came in third.
